Address the function-not just the symptoms.

A Whole-System Approach

My name is Gina Anderson. I’m a Myofunctional Therapist and I’ve been a Registered Dental hygienist for 23 years. I’m passionate about helping my patients discover healthier habits and achieve better breathing, function, and overall well-being.

The goal of myofunctional therapy is not simply to strengthen a muscle or teach an exercise. It is to help the oral and facial muscles work together in a coordinated, functional way.

Through individualized exercises, neuromuscular re-education, habit modification, and functional retraining, therapy helps you develop patterns that can become more natural and automatic over time.

I work in conjunction with Dentists, Orthodontists, Speech and Language Pathologists, ENTs, Sleep Physicians, and body workers to achieve the healthiest, most beneficial results possible.

What We Work to Improve

Depending on your individual needs, therapy may focus on:

Lingual Frenum Release Support (Tongue-tie Release)
Providing individualized therapy before and after a lingual frenum release to help prepare the oral-facial musculature, establish functional patterns, support mobility, and reduce the likelihood of returning to previous compensatory patterns.

Breathing
Encouraging efficient nasal breathing and appropriate oral resting posture.

Tongue Posture & Function
Developing appropriate tongue position, strength, coordination, and mobility.

Lip & Facial Muscle Function
Improving lip competence, facial muscle balance, and oral rest posture.

Swallowing
Establishing a more coordinated and functional swallow pattern.

Chewing & Feeding
Improving chewing efficiency, bolus control, and oral-motor coordination.

Speech-Related Patterns
Working with your Speech and Language Pathologist to support appropriate oral placement for sounds when dysfunctional tongue or lip patterns are contributing factors.

Orthodontic Support
Helping establish functional tongue and oral resting patterns that can complement orthodontic treatment and support long-term stability to prevent relapse.
